The McGrath Foundation

The McGrath Foundation was co-founded by Jane McGrath and her cricketing husband, Glenn McGrath, after Jane’s diagnosis and initial recovery from breast cancer in 2002. However, it wasn’t until 2003 when Jane was being treated for a secondary cancer, that Jane first had access to a breast care nurse. A breast care nurse is a specially trained nurse who acts as a patient advocate, coordinating care for women with breast cancer, their families and carers. more information.

Because of Jane’s experience, two main objectives of the McGrath Foundation became clear: to raise money to place much-needed McGrath Breast Care Nurses throughout rural and regional Australia to support women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families as well as increasing breast awareness in young women. Jane was only 31 when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer and was passionate about empowering women under 40 to take control of their health by conducting regular breast checks as early detection saves lives.

By choosing the McGrath Foundation as the charity beneficiary for your 2009 Christmas cards, you’ll be helping us make a difference to the lives of Australian women and their families.
